Walking Together, Loving the Church

Synodality 2024

2024 Focus

Our Schoenstatt Mens League group here in Sydney is reflecting and then preparing for the future. This needs the Holy Spirit’s help which is central to the Church’s current emphasis on synodality. Schoenstatt Australia motto’s for 2024 - Walking together, loving the Church - is synodal and expresses our journey this year in Zoom meetings, Reflection Day, and Retreat.

February to April

Monday Zoom meetings

Some of our Schoenstatt Men meet via videoconferencing each second Monday. Others just come together for Reflection Day and Retreat.

We begin the year’s work by reading a talk on the Holy Spirit from Schoenstatt’s founder, Fr Kentenich.

Spirit & Form: meeting

5 February 2024

Introduction to the role of the Holy Spirit: the forms, the culture we Schoenstatt Men create in the future – meetings, time together, policies – need to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. For this to happen we will need many conversations in the Spirit.

Introduction & Summary: meeting

11 March 2024

“I want to take up the gift of the Holy Spirit that basically contains all the others: the gift of wisdom.” So starts Fr Kentenich in his talk. He now summarises his whole talk.

The Bright Light: meeting

18 March 2024

Fr Kentenich will refer to ‘the mystics’ a few times. It is important to have some understanding of what he is talking about. The way of the mystics is a way of knowing accessible to all.

The gift of wisdom gives us warm love: meeting

1 April 2024

What the gift of wisdom gives us to an outstanding degree is a high degree of love. If we have the normal measure of love for God, we value God with our wills more highly than all others, but in practice our hearts are far more strongly attached to many things than to supernature.

The grace of transformation: meeting

15 April 2024

“Under the influence of the gifts of the Holy Spirit the first thing that is brought about is that I no longer find purely natural joy in anything, not even the things for which I once had a marked inclination. It is simply as though it is all dried up. The Holy Spirit can only come when all enjoyment of what is purely natural has died.” Fr Kentenich

The Schoenstatt Man Reflection Day 2024

20 April 2024 Reflection Day

So who is the person entering into conversations drawing on the Holy Spirit? A concise statement of what makes a Schoenstatt Man different to many other men - the heart of our spirituality. Fr Pawel, our Moderator, gave the talk.
